This role is specifically within our Infrastructure, Platform, & DevOps portion of our Product Development (PD) Platform Operations team. This group maintains all aspects of our deployed 3DX platform here within Ford Motor Company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pipelines: Develop, design, maintain, & optimize Ansible & Terraform playbooks and pipelines to automate configuration and deployment processes across various environments

  • Infrastructure Management: Design, deploy, and manage scalable infrastructure solutions, including but not exclusive to, virtual machines, containers, storage systems, backups, databases, and much more – all while ensuring high availability and performance.

  • Cloud Management: design, deploy, and manage GCP (Google Cloud) solutions for lower environments and global scalability

  • Linux: maintain & action on our Linux platform and estate for our platform (3DX)

  • Networking: design & maintain robust networking solutions that support seamless connectivity and communication across our platforms

  • Monitoring & Observability: Develop monitoring and observability strategies to ensure system health, performance, and reliability. Utilize tools to provide insights and drive improvements

  • Collaboration & Innovation: Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies and drive continuous improvement in our platform operations

  • Documentation & Best Practices: Establish and maintain documentation for processes, standards, and best practices, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in infrastructure and platform management, with a focus on automation and orchestration using Ansible, including playbook development, role creation, and module usage. Experience with other IaC tools like Terraform is a plus.

  • Proven track record of designing, implementing, and managing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar tools. Experience with pipeline-as-code is highly desirable.

  • Practical experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or equivalent cloud platforms like AWS or Azure. Familiarity with GCP services relevant to infrastructure management (e.g., Compute Engine, Cloud Run, Cloud SQL) is preferred.

  • Strong understanding of monitoring and observability tools and practices, including metrics collection, logging, tracing, and alerting. Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch, Kibana, or similar tools is a plus.

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience with cloud-native technologies and platforms, specifically JFrog Artifactory for artifact management. Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, agile environment.

  • A passion for innovation and a commitment to continuous learning in the evolving DevOps landscape.

Requirements:

  • You must have prior experience with managing large infrastructure environments including virtual machines, networking, load balancers, storage, and databases

  • 5+ years of experience working on a high-performing infrastructure and platform team, demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility.

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in a DevOps role specifically focused on infrastructure automation, observability, and monitoring.

  • 5+ years of experience working with Linux operating systems (SLES, Red Hat, Ubuntu), including system administration, scripting, and troubleshooting.

  • 2+ years of practical experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including managing and deploying infrastructure components.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with configuration management databases (CMDBs)

  • Experience with ITSM methodologies and Agile

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code testing tools like InSpec or Serverspec.

  • Certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator).
