JOB SUMMARY:

  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with department managers and supervisors to understand skills and competencies required for openings at all Michigan locations.  
  • Administers required pre-employment screening as required (physical, drug screening, and background).  
  • Conducts with new hire orientation. 
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation. 
  • Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management. 
  • Assists in development and implementation of human resources policies.  
  • Gathers and analyzes data with key metrics.  
  • Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records. 
  • Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately. 
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development. 
  • Acts as a liaison between the organization and external benefits providers and vendors, which may include health, disability, and retirement plan providers. 
  • Participates or leads company committees (Engagement, Safety, Community)  
  • Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and retirement celebrations. 
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in Human Resources, talent management, and employment law.  
  • Cross-train in other areas of the Human Resources team to appropriately cover and support the department.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.  
  • Minimum of one-year Human Resource Generalist experience.  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Experience recruiting and onboarding employees. 
  • General knowledge of employment law and HR policies and procedures. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. 
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software 

DESIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Three plus years of Human Resource Generalist experience.
