Semi Shuttle Truck Driver (Cold Storage)

Position Description: Responsible for the safe operation of semi-trucks, must meet state and federal requirements for class A licensing.

*Shift: * Primarily day shift off season. During the harvest season -- availability required for varying shifts, overtime (as requested), some holidays and weekends.

Pay: $28.30 - $31.80 per hour depending on experience

Benefits: Permanent, fulltime position benefits include medical, dental, and vision on the first of the month following 60 days of employment.  Upon qualifying, eligible for paid vacation, 10 paid holidays, jury duty, bereavement leave, 401k + matching, Life and Long-term Disability Insurance. Employee Assistance Program and paid sick leave are available from the start of employment.

*Specific Job Tasks: * Includes, but not limited to:

  • Move product between plants, keeping accurate count of product being moved to various locations.
  • Inspect tractor, trailer, refrigerator, etc. on a continual basis. Operate fork lifts, pallet jacks and other loading equipment.
  • Hand stack cases, pallets, etc.
  • Fill out log books, daily driver records, fuel slips, etc.
  • Keeping equipment clean, recognize problems on equipment and fix minor problems, fuel equipment, knowledge D.O.T. laws and regulations, and have current physical card.
  • Maintain proper licensing.
  • Notify employer of any moving violations, accidents and/or equipment damages, the day of said notice while operating a company vehicle.
  • Notify employer of any moving violations at the start of their next working day when violation occurs off-the-job and in own vehicle.
  • All notifications will initially be verbal to their direct supervisor and documented by supervisor.
  • Read and understand English. Operate scan gun at times.

Physical Requirements:

  • Strength - Lift 100 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Stand/Walk/Sitting - Stand, walk and sit a maximum of 3 hours prior to each break period.
  • Climb/Balance - Ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding and the like using the feet and legs and/or hands and arms.  Maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow or slippery surfaces.
  • Reach - Extend both hands and arms in any direction.
  • Handle   - Seize, hold, grasp, turn or otherwise work with the hands.
  • See - Obtain impressions through the eyes of the shape, size, distance, motion, color, or other characteristics of objects.
  • Twist and Turn - Able to twist/turn trunk of body from side to side.
  • Stoop - Bend the body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist.
  • Kneel - Bend the legs at the knees to come to rest on the knee or knees.
  • Crouch - Bend the body downward and forward bending the spine and legs.
  • Finger - Work with the fingers in writing.
  • Talk - Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken word in English.
  • Hear - Receive audio instruction over a two-way radio, listen for mechanical problems that may occur during operations. Also horns, alarms or other warning devices, as well as other equipment, forklifts etc.
