This positon requires various welding, burning, brazing, blacksmithing, and babbitting operations. This role includes tasks such as setup, fitting, grinding, layout, and miscellaneous bench work associated with welding or burning operations. The Welder B works with metal components based on prints, sketches, samples, job card routings, and verbal instructions.

salary: $20 - $21 per hour

shift: First

work hours: 7 AM - 4:30 PM

education: No Degree Required

Responsibilities

  • Perform various all-position welding and burning operations, including setup, fitting, grinding, layout, and miscellaneous bench work.

  • Weld metal components using prints, sketches, samples, job card routings, and verbal instructions.

  • Preheat workpieces using a hand torch or heating furnace as necessary.

  • Insert electrodes into portable holders or thread consumable electrode wire through portable welding guns.

  • Position and handle materials and parts by hand or with handling equipment.

  • Perform blacksmithing tasks such as forming, bending, shaping, and sweating parts together, with or without templates or fixtures.

  • Pour babbitt for bearings when necessary.

  • Use welding jigs and fixtures where applicable.

  • Tack and clamp work preparatory to welding.

  • Utilize hand tools, templates, squares, rules, gauges, and other measuring instruments.

  • Operate miscellaneous hand tools, portable tools, power tools, and handling equipment necessary to achieve job functions.

  • Check own work to maintain quality standards.

  • Inform management of situations that hinder safe or efficient production.

  • Maintain proper care of tools and equipment, including lubricating and replacing consumable components within the job classification.

  • Furnish own tools necessary to perform the job.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.

  • Perform miscellaneous other duties as required within the job classification.

The essential functions of this role include:
