BASF Loading Technician - Chattanooga in Chattanooga, Tennessee

Now hiring! Loading Technician - Chattanooga

We are looking for Loading Technicians at our Chattanooga, Tn location. You are expected to safely handle and transport latex dispersions through the control and use of plant chemical equipment and processes

Rotating Monday - Friday shift schedule alternating every 28 days - 6:00am - 2:00pm and 2:00pm - 10:00pm. Weekend overtime when necessary.

The Loading Technicians are responsible for supporting the daily safe operation of a chemical plant facility to produce styrene butadiene (SB) latex dispersions for the use to external customers. The equipment operated by Loaders in this facility includes: pumps, valves, pressure vessels, instrument control systems, forklifts, hoists, scales, lab testing equipment, computers, and other associated manufacturing equipment.

During your 8 hour shift as a Loading Technician you will

  • Survey loading yard each morning and report empty and loaded trailers to stakeholders

  • Safely operate the yard tractor to spot, load/unload, and pull trailers on site

  • Properly walk down latex loading/transfer lines to ensure proper valve and pump line up prior to starting all loads

  • Complete basic SAP work for all loads to ensure loads are properly loaded, billed, and shipped

  • Load and unload latex railcars

  • Routine housekeeping of area

  • Basic pump maintenance

  • Perform basic math and weight conversions

  • Monitoring of tank levels (including working at heights to stick tank levels)

  • Valve, flange, and hose removal and replacement as needed

  • Monitor supplies inventory and order as needed

  • Communicate well with internal and external teams

Formula for Success:

  • High School diploma/GED and have minimum 2 years industrial job experience.

  • Working knowledge of plant chemical equipment and processes, testing, and computer skills obtained through training and OJT experience. Knowledge of plant area procedures, plant processes for workflow, and computer control/monitoring/adjustments are required.

  • Mechanical knowledge of equipment breakdown including disassembling of piping and small pressure vessels associated in a chemical plant environment.

  • Be willing and able to lift 50 lbs, standing for most of your shift and climb ladders and stairs

  • Be willing and able to work Monday - Friday, rotating 8 hour shifts 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm and weekend overtime if necessary.
