We invite you to join the high-energy team at Chatham Bars Inn, a Forbes Travel Guide Five Star Hotel on Cape Cod, Massachusetts with 25 oceanfront acres, 217 rooms and suites, five restaurants, boating, a private beach, full-service spa, 8-acre farm and endless recreation activities. Open year round, the Inn is a five-minute stroll from Chatham?s charming Main Street and within a short drive of all Cape Cod has to offer. The responsibilities of the Sommelier include but are not limited to providing the utmost in customer service and care as you sell, explain or present wines and beverages to the guests. The Sommelier will be required to be attentive to your guests at all times and anticipate their needs so as to create and maintain a high service level and exceptional experience for each and every guest. Additional responsibilities and duties: Learn, practice, and maintain all Chatham Bars Inn Company Service Standards. Record wine sales and drink orders accurately and immediately after receipt into the register system. Accept guest payment, process credit card charges and make change (if applicable). Wash and sterilize glassware. Prepare wine stations with decanters, candles, serviettes, plates and all utensils necessary for wine service. Maintains bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner to support efficient service. Clear and maintain wine cabinets, wine cellar and service stations during service. Present beverage menus, make specific recommendations and answer questions regarding wine BTG/wine list. Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the bar including wine cabinets, wine cellar, utensils, shelves and storage areas. Assist the restocking and replenishment of wine cabinets/wine cellar, inventory and supplies. Learn and formally address the guest?s names during service Adhere to all hygiene and sanitary standards Ensure proper methods of payment from guests Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement. Must arrive on time and in a complete, clean, pressed uniform for all scheduled shifts Monthly Inventory. Assist in weekly wine orders. Build Wine Program with restaurant manager. Develop and execute Wine Tasting events Train servers and all other staff on wine knowledge and development Attend and lead resort standard trainings Requirements: Minimum 4 years serving experience Minimum Certified Level from Court of Master Sommelier Excellent knowledge in Spirits, Cocktails, Wine and Craft Beer Strong customer service skills necessary Must be available to work varying shifts, be flexible, work holidays and weekends and stay until close or end of scheduled shift. Must have the ability to handle money and operate a point-of-sale system. Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time. Be able to safely lift and easily maneuver trays of food frequently weighing up to 20 to 25 pounds. Be willing to follow direction and ask questions for clarification if needed. Be able to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment Must possess a positive attitude and work well with other team members. Must be able to speak and write in English. Must be able to work independently as well as in a team setting. Current TIPS Alcohol Certification or comparable alcohol service certification Reports to: Restaurant Manager
