Town of Chatham Asistant Treasurer Collector in Chatham, Massachusetts

The Town of Chatham seeks a qualified, collaborative, driven, professional with a strong finance background to take on the role of Assistant Treasurer/Collector. The Assistant Treasurer/Collector performs a wide array of bookkeeping and support functions including creating and issuing bills, processing payments, reconciling balances, processing refunds and collections processing. Position provides support services to the Treasurer/Collector and may act on their behalf in the event of an absence. The Assistant Treasurer/Collector works in accordance with MGL Chapter 41, Sections 39A and 39C assisting the Treasurer/Collector in managing receipts, disbursements and investment of Town funds, and processes collection of all taxes due to the Town. The position maintains billing record databases, processes and maintains tax titles, deferrals liens and delinquencies and is responsible for processing deposits, departmental turn-ins, payroll files, vendor payments and maintains vendor and payroll warrants. Selected candidate must be eligible for bonding annually and will be expected to successfully pursue certification through the Massachusetts Collectors and Treasurers Association.
