The role for Sr. Packaging Engineer under Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for developing package designs, coordinating distribution testing, technical documentation, interfacing with manufacturing and procurement to resolve current business needs, and materials sustainment for both Consumables and Instruments.

This position is part of the group Package Engineering Center of Excellence located in Miami, FL with this position being on-site full time in Chaska MN supporting the Chaska site Package Engineering requirements reporting to the Sr. Manager Package Engineering. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Provide packaging support for internal and external customers, globally.

  • Write technical test protocols, reports, engineering drawings, and ensure manufacturing/packaging documents are created, updated and in compliance with company standards.

  • Exploring new labeling technologies including barcode printing and verification.

  • Design and coordinating release of new and enhancements to existing product packaging, participate in design reviews, inspection processes, and participates in the resolution of packaging issues using Problem Solving methodology.

  • Define packaging materials, with a focus on waste reduction

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Education: Minimum of Bachelor's in Packaging Engineering with 5+ years experience OR Master's in Packaging with 3+ years OR Doctor's in Packaging with 0-2 years experience with all experience in a FDA regulated industry.

  • Fluent in English with excellent oral and technical writing, ISO and GMP, communication skills.

  • Experience with hands-on Distribution Testing per ASTM and/or ISTA to be able to follow the Global Packaging Standards.

  • Solid foundation of packaging materials, fabrication processes, and molding processes.

  • Internal management skills and multi-tasking abilities. Highly organized and detailed oriented.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • CAD Software experience, or similar

  • Cold Chain/Thermodynamics experience or knowledge
