University of Virginia Respiratory Therapist, New Graduate in Charlottesville, Virginia

Relocation ($5,000) & Sign-On Bonus ($20,000) Available to Qualified Candidate

Novice clinician, focused primarily on developing knowledge and skills for typical respiratory conditions. Provides safe patient care and documentation at a basic level and shows growth in ability to care for increasingly complex patients. Manages care and implements treatment plans at a basic skill level in collaboration with patients, their families, physicians and other members of the health care team. Requires periodic consultation with more experienced clinicians and demonstrates benefits from feedback.

  • Assesses respiratory care needs, applies diagnostic testing & therapeutic plans with skill and insight.

  • Documents patient care according to professional standards and departmental guidelines.

  • Accurately communicates patient responses to respiratory therapy interventions and recommends need for modification of patient care plan.

  • Demonstrates innovative application of technologies that support patient care; Active with implementation of evidenced-based-practice and new knowledge generated by respiratory research and endorsed by Department.

  • Embraces Quality as evidenced by:Comprehension of processes, data and outcomes; Participation in PI initiatives, Application of standard procedures, protocols, and documentation.

  • Embraces professional development through formal education, professional certification, internal/external learning, and professional organization participation.Precepts new learners and students.

  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Position Compensation Range: $29.54 - $47.26 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy educational program. Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy; Bachelor degree in Respiratory Therapy preferred.

Experience: None required

License/Certification: Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required. Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required within 90 days of hire). Licensed to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently walking and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
