Your next opportunity awaits you! 3East is a 26 bed General Medicine unit focused on the compassionate care of patients over age 65 with a variety of diagnosis including UTI, PNA, fracture hips, dementia, delirium, and others. The Geriatric patient population are appreciative of the nursing care they are provided and respectful of the staff that provide it. Palliative care patients are patients that are medically treated for the symptoms they are experiencing related to terminal illness and often at the end of life. Although, palliative care patients are cared for on other units throughout the health system 3 East staff are known for their expertise related to this patient population. The 3 East team has been provided with Geriatric nursing education through the Nurses Improving the Care for Health system elderly (NICHE) certification that UVA Health system holds. 3 East is integral part of the Medical Subspecialties Service line partnering with two other General Medicine Inpatient Acute Care units to optimize patient care through various “Be Safe” initiatives. Performs a variety of patient care and administrative support functions under the supervision of Medical Center professionals in an inpatient or outpatient setting or in a patient’s home.
Assists patients with personal care as needed for optimal recovery during hospitalization.
Performs basic nursing skills as delegated by an RN and in accordance with policy and procedure to promote patient health and wellness.
Provides for a safe environment and safe delivery of care.
Performs administrative support functions.
Maintains necessary skills and competencies.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Position Compensation Range: $15.00 - $20.34 Hourly
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent.
Experience: No experience required. Relevant experience preferred.
Licensure: Certified Nursing Aide certification (CNA) through the Virginia Board of Nursing. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires frequently bending/stooping and driving (Home Health Aide only). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 – 50lbs and > 100lbs (Home Health Aide only). May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
