Overview

Vice President of Preconstruction Responsibilities

The Vice President of Preconstruction is responsible for managing EaaS preconstruction services. Preconstruction services include:

  • Providing conceptual and budget estimating for Bernhard’s EaaS General Contracting Division (Prime).

  • Overseeing project estimates and scoping out potential subcontractors.

The tasks and duties include:

  • Managing preconstruction activities prior to contract closing.

  • Managing conceptual and budget estimating.

  • Managing subcontractors RFPs.

  • Managing the estimating spreadsheets.

  • Supporting the IS Delivery Operations department.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Managing the overall preconstruction process & team. Including supporting development, supporting estimating, managing preconstruction scope and procurement.

  • Conceptual Estimates: Responsible for developing conceptual estimate strategies and associated documentation. Also prepare estimate proposals, and lead scope reviews.

  • Request for Proposals: Responsible for developing requests for proposals for equipment and subcontractors. Vet and level subcontractors.

  • General System Knowledge: The individual is required to review project documents and become familiar with equipment system design strategies.

  • Market Conditions: The individual is required to be familiar with national market conditions and inform estimates based on those dynamics.

  • QA/QC: The individual is required to provide “self-checks” on employee’s work. They are expected to provide quality control checks of other employees’ work output.

  • Operational Support: The individual will assist operational Vice Presidents. This includes managing the bid list, producing bid submission and RFP response documentation, and conducting handoff meetings for awarded projects.

  • Public Speaking: The individual is required to present to groups of 5 or more.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • 30 hours of Continued Education.

  • 10+ years’ experience in Commercial General Construction Preconstruction.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Versed in the industry and the Company’s competitors.

  • Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.
