Job Description


Altra Industrial Motion is seeking an experiencedStrategic Account Managerwith a Food and Beverage focus, to be responsible for establishing and expanding relationships with strategically identified customers. Assigned to specific customers, the Strategic Account Manager is responsible for achieving established sales goals and assigned strategic account objectives. This individual is to reside in theSoutheastwith a preference to reside in theCharlotte, NC area. Residing inother major marketswill be considered.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish and expand a key contact network (using a KAM process) at selected Food Processing accounts for the purpose of instituting / influencing / driving specification of power transmission products for processing machinery down to the OEM

  • Collect VOC and understand the Point-of-Use keys to winning mindshare and wallet-share

  • Effectively present technical and value-based proposals to corporate decision makers

  • Track point-of-use investment projects through multiple layers of value-adding companies to the purchase of the power transmission products

  • Communicate effectively in a matrix organization coordinating efforts with Territory Sellers, Data Analyst and Business Development / Product Management

  • Report against key performance metrics and implement corrective actions to reverse any deviating trends

  • Travel up to 30% overnight on average

Job Requirements

Critical Competencies

  • Extensive working knowledge of the operational activities’ at large food and beverage processing facilities

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into a cost-savings, value-based proposal

  • Proven ability to negotiate contractual working arrangements

  • Effective problem-solving approach to reaching goals

  • Process-oriented with experience establishing and tracking performance metrics to substantiate success

  • Effective influencer with positive, action-oriented attitude

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university. Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is preferred. Prior equivalent related work experience will be considered in lieu of degree

  • Minimum of ten years of strategic sales experience in business to sales environment

  • Experience with large multi-national corporation

  • Experience with Food Processing plants and how they operate
