A Carter Lumber Siding Sales Specialist is responsible for presenting, estimating, and selling siding products, as well as establishing a rapport with customers in the community. Identifies and updates market labor rates for siding installation and incorporates these rates into estimates. Communicates and trains store personnel and maintains builder awareness on products.  A strong belief in the mission and goals of the company are necessary to this position.

Requirements:

  • Must possess 2+ years of siding estimating or siding sales

  • Must have working knowledge of roofing and siding installation practices and codes

  • Ability to read blueprints

  • Demonstrated ability to increase sales and improve profitability

  • Excellent organizational, communication and customer service skills

  • Experience in individual or group training is a plus

  • Decision making abilities and problem solving skills

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable DMV record

Responsibilities:

Sales & Relationship Building

  • Develops customer relationships by meeting with customers to determine their needs and suggesting products to best suit the application.

  • Responsible for maintaining and increasing the sales of siding products. 

  • Gives presentations to builders and provides expert advice on product features and benefits.

  • Uses ladder to access roofs to inspect and estimate materials.

  • Performs material takeoffs of siding products necessary to perform installation in accordance with building codes, manufacturers requirements and industry standards. 

  • Ensures products are ordered and shipped on time. 

Communication

  • Keeps lines of communication open between team members at the store and customers to ensure that service is accurate and timely. 

  • Meets with vendors to determine direction of store programs.

Knowledge & Training

  • Identifies personal growth needs and improvement opportunities; seeks to obtain product information; learns about building packages and products. 

  • Provides siding training to builders, installers and store personnel. 

  • Ensures employees are kept current on vendor programs.
