QUALITY ENGINEER

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

"The Quality Engineer plays a key role in executing the assigned tasks as per the various test automation initiaves and plans related to functional, smoke and regression testing as well as test data management and test environment strategy and provisioning.This role is accountable for supporting the quality initiatives with focus on delivering high quality applications to our clients in a fast paced environment while collaborating with cross functional team of developers, architects and business.Quality Engineer provides automated testing expertise and oversight to junior team members. "

Technology and Innovation Division

As a member of City National's Technology & Innovation group, you will drive, develop, and maintain solutions for clients and colleagues. This is an exciting time of technology advancement and innovation across the bank, particularly within our technology teams.

What you will do

  • Analyze product and technical user stories, as well as, requirements and functional and non-functional design specifications and create test cases and automated tests

  • Develop and execute automated testing scripts/code per standards .

  • Participate in code reviews for automation scripts.

  • Participate in building and maintaining infrastructure needed to build and execute automation scripts.

  • Participate in test data management automation efforts.

  • Integrate with CI/CD to establish continuous test cycle

  • Participate in development of QA methodology, templates and best practices for testing

  • Collaborate with other teammates to develop test strategies to tackle complex testing scenarios

  • Recommend improvements to testing processes, technology, and interfaces that improve the effectiveness of testing teams and reduce technical debt

  • Partner with developers and other automation engineers to build the tools and infrastructure to ensure production code is thoroughly tested to the highest standards

Must-Have*

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

  • Minimum 4 experience with test automation

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with and testing relational Databases.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Addendum for Front End/ Application Testing4-6 years of experience automating web, mobile and API layers in both windows and linux environments.Strong hands-on experience with test automation tools like Selenium Webdriver, Cypress, TestCafe or similar. .Strong experience working with Mobile testing and associated technologies (Appium, XCUiTest, Espresso etc.)Basic understanding and experience with container technologies (Docker & Kubernetes)

  • Addendum for Data Engineering Testing4-6 years of experience in validating data across various data platforms/InterfacesExperience in ETL Tools like IICS, Informatica Power Center or similarAbility to analyze complex data mapping documnets and convert them to technical test cases and End to End (E2E) test casesKnowledge of Data Profiling processesKnowledge of various industry ETL scheduler tools like Informatica scheduler, ESPExperience in understanding data models/ER diagram

  • Addendum for Technology Lending QEProficiency with Playwright and TypeScript: Demonstrated experience in automating web testing using Playwright, coupled with strong TypeScript programming skills to develop and maintain test scripts.Experience with Azure DevOps: Familiarity with Azure DevOps for continuous integration and delivery pipelines, enabling efficient collaboration and automation in the software development lifecycle.Expertise in Selenium: In-depth knowledge of Selenium for web application testing, including the creation of robust, scalable, and maintainable test automation frameworks..NET Framework Understanding: Solid understanding of the .NET framework, with the ability to work seamlessly with C# or other .NET languages for test script development.Quality Engineering Best Practices: Comprehensive understanding of QE methodologies, including test plan development, test case creation, bug tracking, and reporting.Collaboration and Communication Skills: Strong ability to work within cross-functional teams, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and contribute to an agile development environment.

Compensation

Starting base salary: $87,027 - $138,965 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
