Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories Electrical Field Installation Technician in Charlotte, North Carolina

As an Electrical Field Installation Technician, you will play a vital role in performing electrical field installations. You will be responsible for various tasks related to protective relay installation, panel and cabinet demolition, cable routing and control house integration. You will be an essential part of our Engineering Services team to provide solutions and services that help our customers protect and control critical electrical infrastructure and power systems worldwide.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical field installations of basic complexity, adhering to safety and quality standards.

  • Install, test, and troubleshoot protective relays.

  • Demolish, install, and modify panels and cabinets.

  • Route and assemble cables, including fiber optics.

  • Integrate and assemble control houses.

  • Form and install conduits for electrical systems.

  • Continuously develop and maintain knowledge of SEL Engineering Services processes and products to ensure effective execution of tasks.

  • Demonstrate commitment to SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles in all job functions.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in control panel wiring and/or an associate's degree in electrical technology or a related field.

  • Basic working knowledge of analog and digital electronics.

  • Ability to read and comprehend mechanical and electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, one-line diagrams, and three-line diagrams.

  • Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time to various project sites.

  • Demonstrated ability to learn new skills and take on new responsibilities as required.

  • Valid driver license.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in outdoor environments with varying climates.

  • Physical capability to stand, walk, sit, bend, squat, climb, and use arm and hand movements effectively.

  • Capability to carry tools and handle materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Comfortable working at heights using lifts, stepladders, and/or extension ladders.

    Salary Range Information

    The hourly pay ranges from $26.90 - $30.40 with extra compensation for overtime. Our pay ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. We base our starting pay offer and title on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
