Description

Robert Half is searching for an ambitious Controller to join a reputable company. This is a leadership role with responsibility over an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, you will plan and direct all accounting operational functions, manage the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assess accounting and internal control systems, and guide departmental staff. As a part of the leadership team, you will lead the generation of innovative ideas that are sound and progressive, challenge the status quo, and foster creativity throughout your area of responsibility. The Controller will be a permanent employment opportunity and will be located in the Charlotte, North Carolina region.

What you get to do every day

  • Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management

  • Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual

  • Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

  • Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners

  • Collaborate with executive team and partners to make efficient and effective firm-wide operation possible

  • Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed

  • Able to perform additional tasks beyond formal job duties

  • Meet client expectations by reviewing deliverables of self and team to make sure they meet client satisfaction

  • Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basi

    Requirements

  • Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus

  • Top notch analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • CPA or MBA preferred, but not required

  • Observant, accurate and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

  • Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Knowledge of financial statement preparation

  • Month end closings experience

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required
