McLaren Health Care Maintenance Mechanic - McLaren Careers in Charlevoix, Michigan

Under the supervision of either the Manager or Director, performs emergency, routine, and preventative maintenance in such diverse areas as electrical, plumbing, HVAC&R, boiler operations, and mechanical. Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot and take corrective action on systems and equipment unique to a health care facility. Must have strong knowledge and experience in two or more described areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Completes all assigned work orders in a satisfactory and proper manner with attention to priority. Completed work must contain proper documentation to include time spent, materials used and correction action with supporting data to provide adequate history including equipment number. Turns in all work orders within 24 hours of completion.

  • Demonstrates proper judgment in meeting the needs of Plant/Engineering and those of the hospital. Displays appropriate decision-making skills.

  • Demonstrates ability to assess problem/situation and either complete repair or contact appropriate personnel. Demonstrates skill and knowledge in assigned work areas including select areas of specialization with the ability to assess and make repairs with minimal supervision. Technical skills will be maintained and enhanced over time as mechanical skills advance. Utilizes tools and test equipment associated with repair tasks.

  • Reads and understands blue prints.

  • Defines potential problems before equipment fails. Responsible for notification of low stock inventories

  • Participates as a team member in order to meet the department's objectives. Team building behaviors include cooperation, willingness to assist other Colleagues, flexibility, positive attitude and seeks peer input for problem solving. Shows willingness to train other Colleagues in area of specialization and to be trained. Willing to respond in emergency situations.

  • Performs all repair work or preventative maintenance in a safe and acceptable manner. Maintains a level of productivity that includes quality, efficiency, accountability and cost effectiveness. Wears protective safety equipment when required.

  • Performs other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed.

REQUIRED

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.

  • Five (5) years of previous experience in more than two of the described areas: mechanical (incl. plumbing), HVAC/R, boiler operation, electrical or carpentry.
