Under the direction of the Director, System Services Payroll, the Manager, Payroll will be responsible for coordinating the Payroll processes for BIDMC, Community One, and NEBH hospitals. Hires and trains the payroll staff ensures compliance with all state and federal tax requirements, and maintains appropriate fiscal and system controls.

Job Description:

  1. Responsible for the timely and accurate processing of the bi-weekly and monthly payrolls, including all system audits and controls. Works with local payroll entities on completion of pay group payroll processing.

  2. Hire and train the payroll staff on all aspects of Workday payroll and applicable time collection systems. Has the authority to direct and support employees' daily work activities. Has the direct responsibility to undertake the following employment actions: hiring, termination, corrective action, and performance reviews.

  3. Review, interpret, and implement pay practices and policies

  4. Independently resolves complex payroll problems and responds to written and verbal inquiries for the purpose of providing information or direction.

  5. Special projects and ad hoc reporting as needed (i.e. implementation of one system-wide timekeeping system)

  6. Oversees all third-party payroll payments such as garnishments and other deduction recipients.

  7. Provide internal and external auditors with information as requested.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Bus Admin or similar field preferred, or equivalent experience

Licensure, Certification & Registration:

Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), preferred

Experience:

5-8 years related work experience required and 1-3 years supervisory/management experience preferred

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

Advanced skills with Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint Access, and other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis, and maintain databases.
