Under oversight of the Director, the Manager, BILH Patient Financial Services Hospital Billing is responsible for leading efficient day-to-day hospital operations of a diverse Patient Financial Services team for a large multi-facility healthcare system with future expansion anticipated.

Responsible areas within PFS Hospital Billing Revenue Cycle may include Billing, AR Management, Customer Service, Cash Posting, Denial Management, and overall Revenue Cycle operations. Assists Director with system wide policies, objectives, and initiatives for Hospital revenue cycle activities to ensure targets are being met. With Director oversight, the Manager sets, monitors and reports on work unit and individual colleague goals and objectives. The Manager must manage resources and work unit costs within the constraints of the cost center budget. The Manager requires an advanced-level knowledge of hospital business office operational workflows, policies and procedures and expertise in industry standards and is responsible for continued staff development, training, scheduling, recruitment and retention. Provides continuous communication of organizational values and displays positive leadership to all associates within the organization. Ensures written plans with deliverables, timelines, outcomes, and actions set by the department's Director are being followed. Demonstrate the ability to meet performance goals to include cash, A/R days, productivity by area, denial reduction, quality measures, staff productivity and other Hospital Billing Revenue Cycle KPI’s. Assists department Director by identifying and sharing healthcare industry changes impacting their assigned areas of Hospital Billing Revenue Cycle. Serves as a primary point of contact regarding matters that relate to assigned areas within Hospital Billing Revenue Cycle and partake in Hospital Billing Revenue Cycle Management workgroup meetings.

Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

• Responsible for assigned Patient Financial Services functions for all BILH Hospital facilities.

• Exemplifies BILH System Services Workforce Code of Conduct.

• Ensures that work units comply with all state, federal and health plan applicable requirements and regulations. Keep abreast of payer and regulatory changes.

• Provide daily management including creating departmental goals and objectives, developing performance standards, and motivating and engaging the team to achieve them.

• Inspires and sustains team unity and engagement by developing, motivating, and guiding the team to achieve results together through productive relationships and work.

• Strong business acumen, understanding of revenue cycle business and IT operations, strong analytical and project management skills Coordinates and supervises workflow of accounts ensuring the standards and target goals.

• Makes day-to-day leadership decisions by securing and comparing information from multiple sources to identify issues; commits to an action after weighing alternative solutions against important criteria; effectively communicates decisions to the appropriate people and teams and holds them accountable. Drives results.

• Communicate issues and changes with Director and all parties applicable.

• Full responsibility for scheduling, recruitment, retention and performance of team members.

• Responsible for ensuring department KPI’s are met, and any risks are promptly mitigated.

• Actively participates in the development of system and workflow enhancement for continuous revenue cycle performance improvement. Coordinates communicating changes to those impacted and monitors performance post implementation.

• The manager works with colleagues and managers from other work units and departments to improve performance, problem solving, and plan.

• Assist the Director with special projects as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business experience preferred.

Licensure, Certification & Registration:

N/A

Experience: Minimum of 5 years Hospital Revenue Cycle experience; minimum of 2 years healthcare management experience

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

• Comprehensive understanding and knowledge of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) coding, billing, and compliance requirements.

• Working knowledge of patient financial servies activities including the HCPCS coding system, the ICD-10 coding system, reveue, claims denials and collection practices.

• Must have a high level of analytical skilsl, process imporovement abilities, problem solving skills and ability to manage a large work force within a large healthcare environment.

• Computer skills to include use of complex revenue cycle systems, Microsoft, and other basic computer skills are a requirement.

• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

• Ability to work with all levels of support staff, management and physicians.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

• Epic EHR experience
