GovCIO Backend Developer (Remote) in Charleston, West Virginia

Overview

GovCIO is currently hiring for a Backend Developer to support a legacy system on the VRE PSES program. This position will be full-time and fully remote.

Responsibilities

Analyzes, evaluates, and codes requirements submitted by business unit for the legacy case management application. Involved in planning of system and development deployment as well as responsible for meeting software compliance standards. Prepares operating instructions, complies documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output of requirements, input of data acquisition, programing techniques, and controls.

  • Designs and codes applications following specifications using the appropriate tools

  • Maintains and modifies existing software applications.

  • Analyzes detailed systems factors, including input and output requirements, information flow, hardware and software requirements, and alternative methods of problem resolution.

  • Performs modifications to and maintenance of operational programs and procedures.

  • Writes or revises program documentation, operations documentation and user guides in accordance with standards.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's with 2 - 5 years (or commensurate experience)

  • Demonstrated experience in backend development

  • Experience with C++ and Oracle

  • Must be a strong problem solver with the ability to quickly resolve technical and user issues

  • Must be an excellent oral communicator with good writing and presentation skills

  • Must be a self-starter with demonstrable initiative and follow through skills

  • Must be highly analytical and possess proven problem-solving abilities

  • Must be able to conduct independent research to lead or support the resolution of complex questions and issues

  • Must have full understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle

  • Must have demonstrated experience planning and managing multiple tasks

  • Must be able to identify/monitor space requirements for Oracle databases in development and production environments

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • VA experience is a major plus

  • Oracle SQL Developer

  • Oracle PL/SQL Developer

  • SQL*PLUS

  • SQL*Loader

  • Pro*C

  • EXP/IMP (nice to have)

  • Unix shell scripting

  • SQL Developer (nice to have)

  • Serena Dimensions Configuration Management (nice to have)

  • Service Now (nice to have)

  • VBA CRP Database (RFACS) experience (nice to have)

Posted Pay Range

The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Posted Salary Range

USD $75,000.00 - USD $85,000.00 /Yr.
