Job Description

The Personal Computer Support Technician provides support to distributed PC/networking environment including installation, testing, repair, and troubleshooting for stand-alone PCs, PCs linked to networks, printers, and other computer peripherals.

Support responsibilities include software installation, and configurations.

This technician performs technical, operational, and training support to users of personal computers either by telephone, or on-site for PC desktop hardware and software packages.

Job duties require the technician to install and test personal computers, printers, and other peripherals, configure operating system, load shrink-wrap programs and other application software programs.

In this position, the incumbent troubleshoots computer problems, performs hardware and software diagnostics, coordinates needed repairs, resolves computer system problems, including coordination between users and components of a local area network, and participates in the evaluation of system configuration and software.

Functional System Administrator support in the application, installation, configuration, and administration and testing of information technology systems and equipment.

Provide support by establishing, manning, and executing troubleshooting services, information assurance, and asset accountability, to support end users; forward and track trouble tickets to the Enterprise Service Desk (ESD) as required, and utilize DoD Remedy service to track all work orders and support requests.

Support loading and configuration of functional systems including, but not limited to, Global Decision Support System (GDSS), Automated Terminal Information System (ATIS), GTIMS, Airfield Automated System (AFAS), Joint Environmental Toolkit (JET), Target Acquisition Weather Software (TAWS), Jeppeson Navigation Charts Software and Data, Advanced Tactical Airborne Reconnaissance System (ATARS), PRO Time, Microsoft Office Professional, Flight Equipment Records Management System (FERMS).

Support Areas (IT Support, Equipment Management Support, User Support, Operational Support):

  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain current NIPR/SIPR Desktop/Laptop/Tablet/Secure Video Teleconference and Mission Planning UTC Equipment configurations within Air Force Networking Operating Center standards on workstations and servers.

  • Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain handheld client devices (including but not limited to tablets, and Smartphone devices as applicable).

  • Maintain and support all laptop, printer, scanner, monitor, and computers.

  • Manage, establish, and maintain user network connections, via physical and wireless (WIFI) connections including router setup/maintenance and troubleshooting.

  • Maintain Management Internal Control Toolset (MICT) accounts and certifications.

  • Build, maintain, and sustain a mission history data base and backup.

  • Set up, configure, and tear down deployment and redeployment line computers when squadrons deploy and return from deployment.

  • Set up, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Secure Video Teleconference Equipment including accountability and inventory.

Requirements

  • Candidate must have Secret Clearance

  • Candidate must have a Security + CE certification or equivalent to DoDD 8570 IAT Level II.
