MTC Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant NP/PA in Chaparral, New Mexico

Overview

Pay Rate: $130,000 per year

Employment Type: Full-time, Direct hire

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, Daytime hours

Location: 26 McGregor Rage Rd, Chaparral, NM 88081

Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide direct patient care, evaluate outcomes, consult with specialists as required and adjust treatment processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.

  • Perform CPR when necessary.

  • Monitor medical condition of patients and report and document changes appropriate to scope of practice.

  • Diagnose and treat patients appropriately, exercising independent judgment, initiating an effective course of action.

  • Perform daily information rounds and prepare notes on inmates assigned to medical housing.

  • Perform basic procedures including thermal applications, non-sterile soaks, application of dressings and casts.

  • Order diagnostic and therapeutic services and assess efficiency, documenting results and making needed changes.

  • Consult with facility medical director in a collaborative and cooperative relationship.

  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive charting on patient medical records.

  • Maintain security and confidentiality of all patient medical records; observe applicable HIPAA rules.

  • Closely monitor all potential catastrophic illnesses.

  • Comply with all applicable pharmacy regulations, especially those covering controlled substances.

  • Perform rescue functions at accidents, emergencies and disasters to include administering basic emergency medical aid, physically removing people away from dangerous situations, and securing and evacuating people from confined areas.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner:

  • Graduate of a Master of Nursing program.

  • Successful completion of certification.

  • Current licensure in the state of New Mexico or compact state as an Advanced Practice Nurse.

  • Demonstrated competency as an Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner through previous experience is preferred.

  • Physician Assistant:

  • Graduate of a CAHEA approved Physician Assistant training program is required.

  • Successful completion of certification.

  • Current licensure in the state of New Mexico or compact state as a Physician Assistant.

  • Demonstrated competency as a Physician Assistant through previous experience is preferred.

  • Current DEA registration unless state practice regulations permit other prescribing arrangements under supervision.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

  • Valid drivers license in the state of New Mexico or Texas with an acceptable driving record is required, unless waived by management.
