Description

The Space Systems Software Architectural Analyst will lead a critical study of various software architectures that underpin autonomous space vehicle operations. This role will explore diverse design approaches, analyzing their advantages and limitations to guide future research and development in space systems software. This role is essential for shaping the strategic technological advancements in autonomous space vehicle software, incorporating system integration and artificial intelligence/machine learning knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

Research Design: Develop a detailed research plan to systematically evaluate different software architectures used in autonomous space vehicles, integrating considerations for AI/ML adaptability.

Architectural Analysis : Perform in-depth analysis of existing software frameworks, assessing their integration capabilities and suitability for autonomous operations in space environments.

Comparative Evaluation: Assess and compare the scalability, reliability, and performance of various software architectures, including their compatibility with system integrator functions.

Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and devise mitigation strategies for each architectural approach, considering integration complexities and AI-driven scenarios.

Documentation: Compile a comprehensive study report detailing the pros and cons of each software architecture, providing clear guidance for future R&D directions.

Recommendations: Formulate strategic recommendations for software architecture choices that align with the organization's goals for innovation in autonomous space vehicle operations, emphasizing the role of system integrators and AI/ML technologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Math, Science or a technical related field and 5+ years of experience, Masters with 3 years.

  • Must have an active TS/SCI with the ability to obtain a poly.

  • Advanced knowledge of software engineering and architecture, particularly in the context of autonomous systems or aerospace applications, including expertise in system integration and AI/ML technologies.

  • Proven analytical skills with a strong ability to evaluate complex software systems and their interaction with integrated hardware and AI components.

  • Familiarity with the unique challenges of space vehicle operations and the comprehensive software and hardware requirements they entail.

  • Exceptional communication skills for articulating complex technical concepts and findings to a varied audience, including non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strategic vision for leveraging future technology trends, particularly AI and system integration, to impact space vehicle operations.

Deliverables:

Research Plan Document: Within the first two months, submit a comprehensive research plan that outlines evaluation methodologies and criteria for software architectures, emphasizing Systems Engineering integration and AI/ML adaptability.

Quarterly Architectural Analysis Reports: Provide detailed reports on existing software frameworks, focusing on their system integration capabilities, SE compliance, and performance in operational environments.

Comparative Evaluation Papers: Produce at least two papers that compare software architectures, highlighting scalability, reliability, SE adaptability, and AI readiness, with a focus on their application in real-world environments.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation Strategies Report: Deliver a report on potential risks and mitigation strategies, considering SE risk management strategies and the complexities of integrating systems and AI technologies.

Environment Implementation and Support Plans: Develop comprehensive plans for the implementation and support of selected software architectures in operational environments, ensuring they meet strategic objectives and technical specifications.
