Actalent Environmental Scientist in Chantilly, Virginia

Description:

Our client is a multidisciplinary wetland and natural resource consulting firm who is currently looking for an Environmental/Wetland Scientist to join their team in the Chantilly, VA area! This candidate would perform wetland delineations using the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers 1987 Wetland Delineation Manual and Regional Supplements under the supervision of mid-to- senior level staff. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in conducting forest stand delineations and tree assessments in urban settings.

  • Perform Chesapeake Bay Area and threatened and endangered species studies under the supervision of mid to senior level staff.

  • Assist in monitoring of stream and wetland mitigation banks.

  • Prepare technical reports and maps in CAD.

  • Responsible for managing multiple projects, including maintaining budget and schedule restraints and ensure quality standards on all project deliverables.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Botany, or related discipline

  • 2-5+ years of related environmental consulting/management experience

  • Working knowledge of field techniques for wetland delineations, plant identification, soil sampling and threatened and endangered species studies

  • Experience in recording/writing detailed technical reports

  • Experience with CAD or GIS software preferred
