Leidos Data Center Network Engineer in Chantilly, Virginia

Description

The customer has an immediate opening for a Senior Data Center Network Engineer to be part of a team responsible for the design, migration, implementation, enhancement, optimization and maintenance of network infrastructure. This positions will require strong engineering experience ability to use free thinking and independent judgement to provide solutions. The candidate will support the design, design documentation, factory testing and network integration of IP/MPLS based LAN/WAN network infrastructure. Tasks can include: participate in the development of new network designs, assess network management architecture, document the architecture, develop test plans, and conduct the testing effort. The candidate will be responsible for installations, upgrades, support problem resolution. The candidate will design, install, configure and support the WAN and other data communications systems or a segment of a network system. Additionally, the duties will include the network hardware and software maintenance, as well as monitor the network to ensure network availability to all system users. This is a full time position located in Chantilly, VA.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide Tier 3 Network engineering support

  • Provide ad-hoc on-call availability as needed

  • Collaborate with network and software engineering staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes

  • Performs complex network development and design work

  • Designs and defines network architecture for new or existing systems and infrastructure

  • Participates in the upgrading of operating systems and design of network enhancements

  • Provides input for documentation on new or existing networks

  • Develops and conducts tests to ensure networks meet documented customer requirements

  • Identifies, analyzes, and resolves network problems

  • Design, install, configure and support the customer’s data communications systems; maintain the network hardware and software as well as monitor the network to ensure network availability to all system users; and perform the necessary maintenance to support network availability

  • Responsible for installations, upgrades, support and problem resolution for customer operating systems

Basic Qualifications:

- - BS in Computer Science, Network Engineering, Systems Engineering or related technical discipline with 12+ years of related experience. Additional experience in lieu of degree.

  • Network design experience including presenting to design boards, etc.

  • Experience working in a multi- data center environment and multi-data center infrastructures

  • Advanced knowledge of network operating systems to include Juniper OS, Cisco IOS and NX-OS

  • Advanced knowledge of enterprise networks

  • Experience with Visio

  • Experience with network analysis tools to include Solarwinds

  • Advanced knowledge of the OSI Model

  • Advanced knowledge of routing protocols to include BGP and OSPF

  • Experience with Cisco Nexus and Cisco Catalyst switches

  • Experience with Juniper SRX firewalls

  • Knowledge of Network Hardware including CPUs, wiring, routers, switches, etc

  • Experience installing and configuring networking hardware (switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers)

  • Capable of recapping network gear as needed

  • Comprehensive knowledge of network engineering principles, methods, and techniques

  • Enjoys tackling challenges which often haven't been solved anywhere else

  • Can design and implement solutions without step-by-step instructions

  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and multi-task while still ensuring high quality of work

  • Highly organized with strong ability to prioritize work and work autonomously

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Familiarity with F5 Load Balancers (physical and virtual)

  • Cisco CCNP certification

  • Juniper JNCP Certification

Pay Range:

Pay Range $108,550.00 - $196,225.00
