Job Description

Within OED, the PDK team works with internal and external foundries to develop and deploy high quality PDKs on both mature and advanced nodes. This global, dynamic and fast-paced team interfaces directly with foundries and EDA tool vendors, as well as internally through foundry tech teams, packaging teams and design and layout communities to provide highly integrated, state of the art PDKs and PDK flows/solutions. The PDK is a core and essential part of all our design flows from concept to tapeout for every project.

The PDK team is looking for a CAD Physical Verification (PV) Engineer based out of US to enhance the team’s support for our business units.

Qualifications

  • Review, adapt, update, enhance and release foundry DRC/LVS/Parasitic Extraction/PERC/FILL rundecks for Renesas internal customers. This includes review/setup of rundeck defaults and customizations.

  • Provide support to Renesas internal customers (Analog and Digital design teams) on DRC/LVS/FILL and Parasitic extraction, and internally developed tools.

  • Provide Releases, QA and documentation for PV components to design teams.

  • Collaborate with colleagues in defining, maintaining, testing and deploying PDK components to internal customers.

  • Maintain, update, and improve our internal QA system for PV components.

  • Be a key part of the interface between design, foundry technology, foundries, EDA vendors and assembly teams to identify and implement project requirements and address any issues from Physssical verification side (decks, tools, technology).

  • Understand timelines, responsibilities, and priorities for support requests and assigned projects.

  • Exercise creativity to innovate new processes and procedures to achieve solutions to complex problems quickly.

  • Work with EDA tool vendors on Renesas’s tool evaluations and any requested enhancements and bug fixes.

  • Maintain skills to ensure competence to perform assigned responsibilities.

Required Skills

  • Excellent understanding & knowledge of tools and programming language for DRC, LVS, FILL and Parasitic Extraction (SVRF/TVF and TCL) or one of equivalents like PVS/Pegasus or ICV/Synopsys.

  • Good knowledge of CMOS fundamentals with background in electrical engineering or semiconductor physics.

  • Knowledge of modern semiconductor technology and design flows, including familiarity with Cadence custom IC Virtuoso platform, Virtuoso-L and Virtuoso-XL, schematic capture, and layout concepts.

  • Knowledge of foundry PDKs and their internal components: PCELL, CDF, Tech files.

  • Knowledge/Understanding of FILL methodology.

  • Strong support and debugging capability, not limited only to Physical Verification flows.

  • Knowledge/Understanding Parasitic effects in ICs (Integrated Circuits).

  • Knowledge of UNIX shell, Shell scripting, programming including Perl or Python.

  • Ability to work well and collaborate in a team environment.

Additional, Desired Qualifications/Skills

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent degree with 8 years of experience.

  • Experience in any commercial flow for RDSON, EMIR is beneficial.

  • Experience in DRC/LVS/PEX/PDK QA and QA automation.

  • Experience in Calibre PERC applications or equivalent from other EDA vendors (ICV or Pegasus).

  • Additional programming/scripting/parsing languages, including Cadence Skill and prior makefile experience.
