Job Summary:

Array Technologies is a global leader in solar tracking systems. The Company is experiencing significant growth built on our best-in-class technology and dynamic team. We are seeking a skilled Civil Structural Engineer with a strong background in developing engineering tools to join our growing Applications Engineering team. As the Civil Structural Engineer – Design Tools you will be responsible for developing applications that will analyze and optimize solar mounting systems using advanced Excel tools and programming languages. This role requires extensive collaboration with other Array Technologies teams and engineering contractors to ensure project goals are met on time and within budget. You will be reporting the Sr Principal Engineer – Civil Structural and working in both technical lead and project management capacities on the assigned automation programs, primarily related to civil engineering processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain advanced Excel tools and macros to facilitate solar mounting system design, analysis, and product configuration

  • Utilize programming languages such as VBA, Python, or MATLAB to enhance the functionality of Excel tools, macros, and in-house software platforms

  • Apply international building codes, standards, and engineering principles to analyze and design tracker structures, connections, and components using analytical tool based and computational based methods

  • Design, analyze, and optimize solar mounting systems for assigned projects

  • Develop and review project specifications, calculations, and drawings

  • Work with internal stakeholders to produce automated engineering report and drawing templates

  • Collaborate with various Array Technologies engineering teams, engineering contractors, IT, PMO and other stakeholders as needed to meet product roadmap requirements

  • Support structured software testing individually as well as defining test requirements and overseeing functional testing and UAT conducted by others

  • Participate in project meetings, provide technical input, and estimate timelines and levels of effort as required

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of industry standards, codes, and regulations related to solar mounting systems

  • Identify and propose innovative solutions to engineering challenges related to design process automation

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, or related field

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in civil and structural engineering design and analysis

  • Proficient in Excel macros and programming languages such as VBA, Python, or MATLAB, Python highly preferred

  • Working knowledge of National building code standards like ASCE, AISC, and IBC

  • Working knowledge of 2D CAD tools

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Attention to detail and accuracy

  • Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and regulations related to solar mounting systems

  • Knowledge of solar energy and photovoltaic systems is a plus

  • FE license and working towards Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus
