Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories Project Engineer II - Project Manager in Centurion, South Africa

Are you ready to take your career in electrical power projects to the next level? Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories Inc. is seeking a talented and experienced Project Manager to lead exciting projects in the power sector.

As an electrical power project manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the successful execution of electrical power projects helping customer use SEL products and engineering talent to make the grid safer, more reliable, and more efficient. At SEL, we believe ownership is essential to quality and as a Project Manager, you will lead project lifecycle from proposal development to project closeout and be involved in all aspects of the business.

As a Project Manager, a typical day might include the following:

  • Possesses, understands and applies knowledge and experience of Project Manager who will lead full life-cycle project management of multiple large multi-discipline projects from proposal conception to commissioning and close-out. Effectively track and stabilize projects, implement solutions for obstacles and anticipate customer needs and related SEL products to complete complex assignments.

  • Lead in training and assisting customers with the creation, design configuration, validation, installation, commissioning and operation of automation and/or protection systems.

  • Lead in assigning, completing and implementing work within agreed upon scope, schedule and budget to a high level of quality and safety.

  • Assist in the identification, preparation and presentation of successful proposals for SEL equipment, services, and systems.

  • Mentor and develop professional staff. May supervise as necessary.

  • Model, teach, and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.

This job might be for you if:

  • B.S. In Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline

  • 5+ years relevant application experience with electric power systems, industry practices, and proposal practices and philosophies

  • Proven experience in project management, particularly in electrical power projects.

  • Knowledge & understanding of electrical power systems, equipment, and industry standards.

  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.

  • Solid problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to think strategically and analytically.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of liaising with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Proficient in project management software and tools.
