Senior Drainage Engineer - Transportation Infrastructure – Pacific Northwest Region

Overview :

Parsons has a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a motivated Senior Drainage Engineer to join our team in the Parsons Pacific Northwest Area. The successful candidate will have a key role in the drainage and hydrology & hydraulics (H&H) practice specializing in Transportation Drainage, Stormwater Management, Hydrology and Hydraulics, and Floodplain Management engineering services. In this role, you will have a lead role in a team of professionals overseeing drainage and hydrology components of multiple transportation projects. The project portfolio includes highway improvement projects, rail and transit projects, and other critical infrastructure projects, with an emphasis on drainage and stormwater design work in the Seattle and Washington area. There are also opportunities to support projects in other regions of the U.S. and Canada.

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will provide technical guidance to designers, lower-level engineers and drafters; act in an advisory capacity to senior management personal on technical matters and bring technical expertise to all drainage/hydrology aspects of major transportation projects on both conventional and design/build projects. You will be a key member of our Mobility Solutions practice assisting in pursuing and executing these projects.

Responsibilities Include:

· Assists in leading discipline design teams on projects while assisting with building of relationships with key clients.

· Provides mentorship and guides development of junior staff with standard engineering practice/methodologies, and commonly used CAD/CAE and modeling software for the drainage and H&H discipline.

· Coordinates with discipline counterparts such as roadway, structural, utilities and others during design efforts.

· Communicates with project managers and discipline leads to ensure success of projects.

· Able to meet deadlines and independently manage assigned tasks and workloads. Assists with managing tasks of junior staff.

· Participates in company-wide technical H&H community and professional societies to keep abreast of current technologies and networking.

· Applies advanced engineering principles to complex analytical models and proficient in commonly used engineering software and methodologies.

· Performs and leads design plan production, specifications, and reports for projects of all sizes. Highly proficient in commonly used software environments as needed for project requirements for both plan production and analytic modeling/reporting.

· Understands QA/QC standard practices and procedures, ensuring quality requirements and project criteria and scope are met during project delivery.

Qualifications:

· 8 years or more of experience in transportation drainage, stormwater, and hydrology engineering and design-build experience strongly preferred. 5 years or more of WSDOT stormwater design experience is essential.

· Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.

· (PE) license is required, and ability to obtain license in Washington State within 6 months of hire.

· Knowledge of standard DOT/FHWA drainage, hydraulic and hydrology standards and practices; Experience with FEMA designated floodplains; Experience on alternative project delivery and design-build projects, and experience with typical drainage and H&H design software commonly used in final design is strongly preferred.

Salary Range:

$81,500.00 - $161,400.00
