As a Senior Embedded Product Security Engineer, you will be on a mission to ensure our products are the safest from any cyber threats and are certified to be airworthy. You will find holes in the armor through ethical abuse and exploitation of our products. Can you break it and make it better?

And no, you don’t need to come from Cyber to work in Cyber. We can work with your engineering skills and transform them giving you your superpower of a niche and rare skillset.

As a Principal Embedded Product Cybersecurity Engineer, you will lead the advancement of and adherence to our Secure System Development Life Cycle (SSDLC) for all products within the Avionics Strategic Business Unit .

Our product portfolio spans a variety of avionics products, from Flight Management Solutions, Cabin Management Systems to next generation aircraft connectivity and communication solutions . A successful candidate will be expected to have fluency in the latest security technologies and understand their application to embedded systems with the goal to enhance and maintain the security posture of our products.

As our Principal Embedded Product Cybersecurity Engineer, you will be a key member of a shared services team of security engineers focused on improving the quality of our products by ensuring the security, integrity and robustness is maintained throughout the product life cycle. Cybersecurity work is never done , and this team strives to enhance our products every day!

What YOU will do:

  • YOU will develop threat models and data flow diagrams to identify untrusted inputs , and characterize security vulnerabilities for product s.

  • YOU will Be the security subject matter expert for programs and collaborate with software architects and development teams to mitigate security threats .

  • YOU will e nsure proper implementation of security measures during product development.

  • YOU will d evelop, deploy and automate security tools, as well as develop and execute fuzzing and penetration tests for identifying product security flaws.

  • YOU will guide the organizational adherence and adoption of the security processes and practices, including DO-326A/DO-356A, for development and integration of products .

  • Y OU will m entor junior product security engineers a nd advise/ assist other security engineers.

  • YOU will p ursue and participate in industry recognized security certifications , indu stry committees , and working groups.

    Education & Experience:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.

    Qualifications you must have:

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required . U.S. citizenship is required , as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • Experience in product security, secure system design or embedded software engineering.

  • Experience with networking (OSI Layers, protocols, etc.).

    Skills we value:

  • Analysis of system and application security architectures.

  • Reviewing system and application vulnerabilities and providing mitigations.

  • Hands-on experience with static analysis and collaborating with developers to resolve security issues.

  • Analysis experience of SELinux policies for proper process isolation/separation.

  • Experience with RTCA DO-326A / DO-356A.

  • Any industry recognized security certifications (Sec+, OSCP, CISSP, etc.).

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
