Position Summary:

If you are a motivated student with skills and interest in radio frequency integrated circuit design (RFIC), Skyworks Cedar Rapids Design Center is looking for you! As a home to an elite team of RF professionals, you will work side by side with a mentor and grow your skills working on real products that will end up in the next generation of cellular phones. Cedar Rapids, IA is a vibrant city with low traffic, low cost of living, and quality schools, but plenty to do in the form of great restaurants, sports, live music, theatre, hiking, biking and more! Get your foot in the door to cellular phone RFIC one of the most cutting-edge and impactful industries helping people connect across the globe. Your job function will include but not be limited to designing low noise amplifiers (LNA), RF switches, matching networks, setting up and running simulation test benches, EM tools, and analyzing lab data.

Responsibilities

  • Setting up and debugging simulation test benches

  • Setting up and debugging LNA model with EM tools

  • Running verification on completed LNA designs

  • Design Low Noise Amplifier (LNA), RF Switches, Matching Networks

  • Compile results in slides and present to the engineering team

  • Show up to work before 9AM with a positive, can-do attitude

  • Must have the ability to complete intern/coop term prior to graduation

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Available to work Jan-June 2025

  • Must be currently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering (or related) BS, MS or PhD program

  • Strong background in RFIC design (Smith Chart, Impedance Matching)

  • Knowledge in RF parameters (insertion loss, return loss, harmonics, IMD, IIP3, VSWR, NF, power gain)

  • Good communication and presentation skills

  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools, Cadence

  • EM tool, low noise amplifier and layout design experience are not required, but desired

    The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
