Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education:

  • Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six-months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

  • Strong ability to read and comprehend written instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

  • Ability to write correspondence and update procedure manual.

  • Ability to communicate with others, especially explaining changing standards and guidelines that must be met.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age

  • Ability to operate warehouse machinery, pallet jacks, reach trucks, and forklifts

  • Ability to work independently

  • Must have working knowledge of Windows Operating System and Microsoft Office

  • Ability to problem solve

  • Previous inventory systems experience

  • Accurate reasoning with information derived from numbers to make decisions

  • Working knowledge of computerized inventory methods

  • Teamwork oriented

  • Understand visual information such as warehouse layouts and graphs

  • Prefer a background familiar with warehousing

  • Organization skills in special arrangements of objects in an efficient and orderly manner

  • Solid communication skills to communicate concerns, problems, or more efficient methods

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as multiplication, adding, subtracting and percentages, fractions, and decimals.

Job Overview:

Produce Quality Control will be responsible for maintaining quality standards of all perishable items within the warehouse.

Expectations:

  • Maintains highest quality of the produce department.

  • Maintains clean, neat and orderly condition of the warehouse.

  • Maintain efficiency within the department.

Job Duties:

  • Inspect all incoming refrigerated trucks for proper temperature and quality.

  • Inspect all refrigerated items returned to the warehouse and restock as necessary.

  • Turn in a daily list of non-restocking items and reasons to the Returns personnel.

  • Pull poor quality product from stock and write up on daily damage sheet and turn into appropriate Inventory personnel

  • Report quality issues to Merchandising Produce Buyer/ HACCP Coordinator and Support Staff Manager as deemed appropriate for each situation.

  • Assist in problem-solving of quality issues, as well as help establish needed procedures and protocols to maintain high quality levels.

  • Observe rotation and expiration dates (In the produce area this is especially important due to the nature of the produce).

  • Help with inventory functions as needed and as time allows.

  • Assist all departments in the distribution center to follow necessary procedures as it pertains to inventory control.

  • Maintain a positive relationship with all departments within the company.

  • Suggest positive changes for the department and Martin Bros.

  • Follow all safety rules and requirements of the warehouse.

  • Read and follow company policy.
