Annual Giving Manager

 

The Annual Giving manager oversees fundraising efforts for donors and prospects who give on an annual basis. This position focuses on increasing donor participation and annual donations through compelling messaging and innovative multi-channel outreach. The scope of the work includes acquiring and retaining donors who give $.01-$999 to SUU. This position supervises student employees.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Develops, implements, and evaluates strategies and giving programs to meet fundraising goals with a focus on the amount of dollars and participation secured. Cultivate, solicit, renew, and steward gifts from individuals.

 

Serves as a project manager for all Annual Giving communications that support campaigns throughout the year, i.e. emails, social media, direct mail solicitation letters, text messaging.

 

Builds and strengthens external relationships and philanthropy, especially individuals who are nondonors, new donors, and annual donors who give $.01-$999.

 

Qualifies prospects for potential major gift capacity and interest. Provides appropriate background on prospects to be assigned to Leadership Annual Giving or Director of Development portfolios.

 

Exercises good judgment in discussing donors, issues and results.

 

Works collaboratively with peers to help ensure that planning is integrated across audiences.

 

Facilitates fundraising training for various constituencies.

 

Other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

 

Broad knowledge of annual giving and engagement best practices and trends.

 

Possess tact, diplomacy, discretion, and the ability to maintain confidentiality inside and outside of Institutional Advancement.

 

Possess initiative and self-starting capacities.

 

Possess negotiating, organizational, analytical and fundraising skills.

 

Ability to motivate others and enjoys teaching others.

 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 

Strong problem solving, research and analytical skills.

 

Three or more years of professional experience in fundraising, marketing, public relations, communications, or a related field.

 

Accomplishments that demonstrate initiative, creativity, managerial and interpersonal skills.

 

Proven ability to collaborate, build team spirit, and achieve results within a diverse population that may possess competing interests, opinions, and/or expectations.

 

Previous experience in analyzing and interpreting data.

 

Experience with database management and utilizing databases.

 

Experience with tele fund management preferred.

 

Experience with web content management.

 

Experience copywriting and editing and/or design.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

Master's degree Preferred.

 

Experience with annual giving in higher education is preferred.

 

Interest in becoming a Certified Fundraising Executive preferred.
