Software Engineer, Systems Responsibilities:

  1. Research, design, develop, build and test operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for large distributed components that run our applications.

  2. Build new features and improve existing products.

  3. Work on problems of moderate scope.

  4. Push code, drive the development of the systems behind our products, create web applications that reach billions of people, build high volume servers, and be a part of a team to connect people around the globe.

  5. Develop a strong understanding of relevant product area, codebase, and/or systems.

  6. Demonstrate proficiency in data analysis, programming and software engineering.

  7. Produce high quality code with good test coverage, using modern abstractions and frameworks.

  8. Receiving general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new projects or assignments, work independently, use available resources to get unblocked, and complete tasks on-schedule by exercising strong judgment and problem solving skills.

  9. Master internal development standards from developing to releasing code in order to take on tasks and projects with increasing levels of complexity.

  11. Collaborate with researchers, data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to define and execute solutions that align with business goals.

  12. Conduct reviews of code changes submitted by peers.

  13. Evaluate code quality, functionality, performance, and adherence to coding standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Requires a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Software, Computer Engineering, Applied Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, or related field. Requires completion of a university-level course, research project, internship, or thesis in the following:

  2. C, C++, Java, or C#

  3. Python, PHP, or Haskell

  4. Relational databases and SQL

  5. Linux, UNIX, or other *nix-like OS as evidenced by file manipulation, advanced commands, and shell scripting

  6. Core web technologies: HTML, CSS, or JavaScript

  7. Building highly-scalable performance solutions

  8. Data processing, programming languages, databases, networking, operating systems, computer graphics, or human-computer interaction

  9. Applying algorithms and core computer science concepts to real world systems by recognizing and matching patterns in production systems

  10. Distributed systems

$221,596/year to $240,240/year + bonus + equity + benefits
