FP&A Manager

Position Summary

Under direct leadership, the FP&A Manager will support FP&A activities for the business, including developing and tracking performance to the operating plans, and driving the business with reliable analytics to assist the decision-making process in a manner that demonstrates, “Everything is Important.” This is a key role in the finance department with executive level visibility in monitoring and reporting current and future spend. The analyst will facilitate financial decision making through robust reporting, modeling, and analyses.

This position requires a high level of intellectual curiosity to learn, gather facts, and ask questions; a strong analytical background and storytelling; and the ability to organize information and make suggestions for improvement regarding anything from part profitability to production to marketing. The FP&A Analyst will interface with all aspects of the company, including production, engineering, sales, program management, accounting, and executive management.

This position is hybrid based out of Carson, CA.

This person will not manage a team; they will manage FP&A processes and functions.

Essential Functions

  • Works collaboratively with the Finance and Accounting team to drive performance and deliver reliable information to the operations team.

  • Oversees and manages the continued development of Budgeting, Financial Forecasting, Operating Plan and Modeling tools

  • Works cross-functionally with key business partners in the development and management of their budgets and forecasts

  • Analyzes current and past trends in key performance indicators, including all areas of revenue, BOM/Labor/COGS, liquidity, and capital expenditures

  • Monitors performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variance

  • Performs ad hoc reporting and analysis

  • Implements and delivers of Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly and Annual reporting/dashboard reports and financial reports

  • Prepares month-end close analyses, trend evaluations, and variance commentary

  • Improves performance by evaluating processes to drive efficiencies and understand ROI in process, operational and engineering as well as for new projects

  • Develops financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives, develops and enhances tools to track incurred project and operational costs monthly

  • Analyzes financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision making purposes

  • Contributes to the period-ending financial reporting activities, as prioritized by Finance leadership.

  • Prepares presentations to the Board of Directors and Senior Management Team

  • Communicates and delivers information to the investors/lenders

  • Identifies and collaborates to automate finance processes

  • Performs a leading role on internal projects, working closely with peer organization to understand key business issues and translate them into financial models and metrics

  • Independently identifies and pursues areas of analysis that will offer insights and result in actionable recommendations

Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree with a major in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or another quantitative field

  • A minimum of five (5) years as an analyst in Financial Planning & Analysis or other finance function including related consulting roles

Preferred Technical Skills and/or Experience

  • Experience in automotive or aerospace manufacturing

  • Experience with NetSuite a plus

Skills/Abilities and Attributes

  • Exceptional analytical abilities and expert in MS Excel and other MS products

  • Strong accounting knowledge and understanding of financial statements and US GAAP

  • Strong presentation and communication skills with the ability to regularly interface with executive management

  • High level of curiosity and self-motivation in digging deeper into data and trends and driving actionable insights

  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate, high-quality work

  • Ability to handle tight deadlines, prioritize workload and achieve effective results in a fast-paced, dynamic, ever-growing, and often ambiguous environment; effective multi-tasking and organizational skills are vital

  • A proactive, self-directed approach and the ability to learn quickly

  • Delivering final work product on time (or ahead of schedule), that has been thoroughly reviewed and reflects superior attention to detail, minimizing the potential for mistakes

  • Creative problem solver with the ability to synthesize complex and diverse information from disparate sources and deliver comprehensive, balanced, and actionable insights, leveraging intuition and experience to complement findings in data

  • Experience with development of budgets, forecasts, variance and trend analysis, and multi-year financial plans utilizing a wide variety of tools and financial analysis programs to build financial projection models

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization

  • High level of ethics, integrity, discretion, and confidentiality

Physical Demands/Work Environment

Compensation

The starting pay range for this position is between $111,600 - $139,500 per year. Actual compensation will be determined by skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
