Dow has an exciting opportunity for aMaintenance Technologist(Journeyman Mechanic) inCarrollton, KY.

About you and this role

Journeymen Level Mechanic will be responsible for providing daily support across the Carrollton Site as needed. As part of this group, they will be responsible for assisting in the maintaining of all process and support equipment, including but not limited to:

  • Chlorosilane Process Equipment

  • Siloxane Process Equipment

  • Utilities Process Equipment

  • Product Delivery Process Equipment

  • Associated process piping, relief valves, and pumps (centrifugal, diaphragm, positive displacement)

  • Capital Project Support

Responsibilities

Successful Journeymen Level Mechanics shall fulfill several roles and responsibilities, such as:

TECHNICAL MECHANICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: In depth, comprehensive knowledge of methods and procedures of mechanical maintenance work, proper use of hand and portable power tools, shop equipment, relevant terminology and resource locations.

PROCESS EqUIPMENT RELIABILITY: Journeymen Level Mechanic will perform preventative maintenance tasks that require specialized skills including.

PROCESS EQUIPMENT REPAIR: Journeymen Level Mechanic may be called to respond to abnormal situations and be responsible to return the process equipment to normal operation as efficiently as possible by:

  • Troubleshooting equipment upsets and failures to determine the source of the problem

  • Evaluating potential solutions and reviewing them with appropriate personnel

  • Making necessary repairs to equipment

  • Securing and/or fabrication and subsequent installation of replacement parts

PROCESS EQUIPMENT IMPROVEMENT: Journeymen Level Mechanic will be responsible for providing comprehensive mechanical technical support and expertise to the Carrollton Process Operation Groups.

ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH and SAFETY (EHS) COMPLIANCE:Journeymen Level Mechanic must comply with all Federal, State, Local and Corporate EHS regulations.

  • Housekeeping is an integral part of the Journeymen's responsibilities

  • Perform all functions in a safe and responsible manner by following Site safety standards.

  • Selects, maintains, and uses all safety equipment and personal protective equipment.

MAINTENANCE ADMINISTRATION:Journeymen Level Mechanic will perform administrative tasks as required.

  • Formulates strategies and estimates time and materials required for maintenance and capital tasks.

  • Communicates status of work and corrective actions to affected parties.

  • Documents technical findings, time spent on the job, parts used and corrective actions in SAP, equipment logs, and/or log books as appropriate.

  • Attends meetings and training courses as required.

  • Participates in Risk Assessments and Root Cause Investigations, as necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of a High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.

  • A minimum of 3 or more years of experience in Mechanical or Industrial Maintenance role (Journeyman).

  • Must have experience working on pumps, valves, compressors, and piping, pipefitting, blueprint reading, laying job out, rigging, etc.

  • Must have Current, valid US drivers license.

  • Must be available for overtime and emergency call-ins as required by Carrollton Site priorities.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with welding.

  • Previous experience operating a crane.

  • Working in a Chemical Manufacturing environment.

  • Experience using SAP and Microsoft applications.

Physical Requirements:

Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Push, and pull up to 55 lbs.

  • Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting

  • Stand 50% of the time.

  • Walk for extended periods of time

  • Work at heights, climb stairs and ladders.

  • Work in tight and closed in spaces.

  • Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to respirator.

  • Work in an area of intense or continuous noise.

  • Work in an area with hazardous materials.
