GE Vernova Principal Engineer – Inspection in Carrara, Italy

Job Description Summary

Within the L5 Component Repair Insourcing Program, the Principal Engineer – Inspection will be responsible to manage and lead all the technical & operational activities linked with Non-destructive inspection (FPI, Eddy-current, magnetic inspection, X-ray) metrology (CMM and mechanical measurements) and laboratory (metallografic, optical, mechanical properties). She/he will deal with technical specifications, purchase and industrialization of such technologies within the Aero Alliance Shop Network, with a particular focus to Avenza (Italy) and Port Klang (Malaysia).

She/he will report ad-interim to the Project Director, until a Process Engineering Manager will be hired/selected.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Subject Matter Expert = Non-destructive inspection (FPI, Eddy-current, magnetic inspection, X-ray). Become the Aero Alliance technical reference point for all the inspection processes and NTI (new technology introduction).

  • Define Engineering Spec to purchase Equipment, as per routings defined by Repair Engineering.

  • Technical selection/alignment of different Equipment suppliers.

  • Technical selection of Farm-out company (both in Avenza and in Port Klang) to support business continuity plan and manage load peaks.

  • Writing of Operative Procedures for Inspection Operations.

  • Industrialization of everything connected with the NTI.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering or High-School Diploma with proven significant experience in inspection technologies.

  • NDT Level III as per ISO 9712.

  • proven significant experience in non-destructive inspection.

  • Fluency in English and Italian, in writing and speaking.

  • Capability and experience to work with local and remote resources, merging people from different locations as needed to close complex projects in due time.

  • Previous experience in technical selection of new equipment / Industrialization.

  • Proven years of experience in component manufacturing or repair and overhaul environment with one or more of the following turbo-machinery: Aeroderivative gas turbine, Heavy Duty gas turbines.

  • Extensive experience within GE / BH repair business

  • Capability to prioritize business requirements and to efficiently manage assigned budgets.

  • Full availability to travel for business purposes world-wide (up to 20%)
