Position Summary:

Engineer responsible for the management of incoming supplier materials, equipment, and services. Implement and maintain a supplier quality scoring system that drives improvement to determined levels as well as monitors on-going performance. Works with procurement team to evaluate new and strategic suppliers with on-site audits. Follows up supplier issues with appropriate enforcement of corrective actions. Translates customer and internal requirements to suppliers.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work with Procurement and Quality Leadership to develop a Supplier Quality Management program.

  • Develop scoring methods and systems to evaluate and monitor supplier performance.

  • Monitor and respond to supplier performance issues – notification of trends, discrete issues, and initiation to closure of Corrective Action Reports.

  • Utilize internal systems to capture and track supplier related issues. Work together with system teams to develop changes to improve the abilities to capture and track supplier related issues.

  • Collaborate internally to develop audit forms, schedules, and reports.

  • Visit suppliers to conduct audits of facilities and operations.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering field

  • 2-4 years’ experience working in fields related to supplier quality.

  • Experience in conducting audits related to manufacturing, fabrication, or construction fields.

  • Problem solving process skills (8D, DMAIC, 5-Why’s, Fishbone/Ishikawa)

Desired Qualifications/Skills:

  • Experience reviewing specifications, submittals, and drawings.

  • Experience with developing KPI’s and tracking actions related to targets.

  • Customer / Supplier negotiation experience

  • Strong Oral, Written and Presentation Skills.

  • Demonstrated background working with multidisciplinary teams.

  • Demonstrated time management and organization skills to meet deadlines and quality objectives.

  • Strong MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint Skills is a plus.

  • Ability to travel domestically up to 40% of the time.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 2-4 years

  • Master’s degree in engineering with 0-2 years

Abilities:

  • Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time.

  • Sitting for extended periods of time.

  • Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction.

  • Have finger dexterity in order to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms, for example, using a keyboard.

  • Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.

  • Communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.

  • Read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.

  • Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.

  • Identify and understand the speech of another person.
