Nuvance Health has a network of convenient hospital and outpatient locations — Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital, Norwalk Hospital and Sharon Hospital in Connecticut, and Northern Dutchess Hospital, Putnam Hospital Center and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York — plus multiple primary and specialty care physician practices locations, including The Heart Center, a leading provider of cardiology care, and two urgent care offices. Non-acute care is offered through various affiliates, including the Thompson House for rehabilitation and skilled nursing services, and the Home Care organizations.

JOB SUMMARY : Demonstrates the ability to assess the full scope of the Birthing Center patient needs, using the nursing process on a continuous basis.

Provides a safe environment for patient visitors and employees through identifying/correcting/ reporting health and safety hazards.

Cooperates with distribution of resources to maintain a therapeutic environment.

Demonstrates a skill in interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors and co-workers.

Demonstrates effective oral and written communication methods using lines of authority appropriately.

Demonstrates accountability for nursing practice through planned and continuous professional growth and development.

Demonstrates commitment to Health Care Organization by taking responsibility for job function.

Demonstrates knowledge and judgment needed to meet the nursing needs of the Birthing Center patient.

Demonstrates a leadership role through clinical practice, supervision, teaching and research.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Education : Graduate from an accredited nursing program.

Licensure/Registration/Certification : Currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse inNew YorkState. Mandatory completion of Neonatal Resuscitation program within 6 months of hire required. BLS certification required. ACLS optional.

Work Experience : One year experience in labor & delivery required.
