Position Summary:

Easterseals NY- Project Soar is seeking a One-to-One Teacher Aide for our preschool program serving students with special needs.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Work under direct supervision of the child care teacher or assistant teacher.

  2. Carry out activities for the supervision and instruction of children individually or in groups as directed by the teacher using developmentally appropriate practices and serving as a model of inclusion.

  3. Meet custodial needs of children in their care in a timely manner (e.g. Snacks, lunches, etc.).

  4. Assist in keeping classroom supplies and materials orderly.

  5. Assist in completion of daily/weekly program operational chores (dishes, laundry, cleaning, shopping).

  6. Interact with children at all times in nurturing, developmentally appropriate ways and adhere to all other program and agency policies.

  7. Participate in ongoing staff development.

Experience and Education:

  • High School education or GED, Bachelor's Degree preferred.

  • Two (2) years practical experience working with children is preferred.

  • Level I NYS Teacher Assistant Certification.
