Amentum Transportation Engineer in CARLSBAD, New Mexico

Job Summary

Nuclear Waste Partnership, an LLC of Amentum, is seeking candidates for a rewarding career opportunity to support the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) and be part of the nation’s only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste. We seek a Transportation Engineer in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

The successful candidate will perform technical duties in preparation of hazardous material, hazardous waste, and radioactive material shipments and receipts, assuming responsibility for the accuracy of results and regulatory compliance. Prepare routine technical reports and presentations as needed. Collect enter, and report transportation information and shipment data as needed. Perform shipment documentation reviews, log keeping, and file maintenance. Initiate corrective action, under directions, for shipment discrepancies. Cross-train for related positions to ensure transportation staff positions can be staffed daily.

NWP Non-Exempt Salary Grade (31)

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline plus five (5) years of relevant experience, or

  • Associate’s degree plus nine (9) years of related experience, or

  • High School Diploma or GED plus thirteen (13) years related experience is required.

  • Must have two (2) years of experience working with hazardous and radiological materials.

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Due to the nature of the work, all candidates must be US Citizens.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier and Hazardous Materials Shipping Regulations is preferred.

  • RCRA Hazardous Waste Management experience is desired.

  • Experience with procedure writing/reviews is beneficial.

  • Previous WIPP Project or CCP experience is a plus.
