Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as theHoisting Production Department Managerand join our team to support our government customer in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

The successful candidate will manage hoisting operations directing safe, compliant operation of the WIPP Hoists to maintain access to the WIPP underground. Provide direction, oversight and guidance to hoisting crew supervisors and hoisting crew personnel. Work closely with hoisting COG engineers. Perform manager observations and management assessments for hoisting operations. Ensure all procedures, policies and regulations are followed and ensure all required training, qualification programs and documentation is properly maintained. Plan, schedule and assign work to personnel as necessary. Maintain appropriate interfaces with other departments supported by hoist crews. Ensure compliance with the bargaining unit contract. Ensure all work is performed safely and compliantly while providing timely support to mission objectives.

Exempt Salary Grade (36-38)

Minimum Requirements:These requirements must be met to be considered for this posting. Uploaded resumes and completed applications are the means of determination.

  • Bachelor-s of Science degree with nine (9) years of related experience**

  • Please note college credit hours on resume, if substituting experience for education as detailed below.

  • Five (5) years of management/supervisory experience is required.

Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

**This position is included in the Training Implementation Matrix (TIM). Therefore, related experience may substitute for education at a rate of six semester credit hours for each year of experience up to a maximum of 60 credit hours. When combined with experience, completion of technical portions of an engineering, engineering technology, or related science program may substitute for the baccalaureate or associate degree. Successful completion must be determined by a transcript or certification by an accrediting organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or the US Department of Education. Completion of 80 semester credit hours may be substituted for the baccalaureate requirement, and 43 semester credit hours for the associate degree in technical subjects related to the position.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Highly preferred--Two (2) years of Nuclear Experience-- note TIM review for this preference

  • Mine Operations Management/Supervisory experience is preferred.

  • At least five (5) years of experience with mine hoisting system engineering, operating, or maintenance is preferred.

Starting salary $124,825 per year *
