Global Market Development Specialist, NGS Platform

This position is located within the Clinical Next-Generation Sequencing Division of the Life Sciences Solutions Group at Thermo Fisher Scientific. This role is office-based in our Carlsbad, CA site.

What you will do:

  • Develop and implement marketing strategy and plans for NGS platforms in collaboration with global and regional marketing, product management, medical affairs, and commercial teams.

  • Perform customer segmentation, competitor analysis, business trends, and market opportunities.

  • Guide the development of compelling content for NGS instrumentation, software, and analysis/reporting solutions, ensuring flawless product positioning and strong value propositions.

  • Build and implement marketing content across multiple channels, including email, social media, web, video, print, and live events to drive awareness, education, and demand for our NGS platforms portfolio.

  • Develop and deliver effective and engaging sales trainings and tools to enable and empower commercial team efficiency and success.

  • Develop a robust lead generation and sales opportunity funnel through promotional initiatives and marketing-led events such as marketing automation, webinars, and tradeshows.

  • Collaborate with ad agencies and marketing managers to create world-class materials for various channels such as print, digital, PR, social media, presentations, tradeshows, and promotions.

  • Maintain and analyze campaign metrics to measure the performance of marketing activities.

  • Maintain knowledge of molecular diagnostic industry trends and competitor activity.

  • Handle marketing budgets and optimize the promotional mix of campaigns to achieve a high return on investment.

  • Act as a brand ambassador, understanding and upholding our multi-brand strategy in all aspects of our marketing programs.

  • Handle relationships and projects with external collaborators such as customer KOLs, strategic partners, advocacy groups, and sales channels.

How you will get there:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required (preferably in molecular biology, genetics, or other related science field).

  • Advanced degree or equivalent experience in a relevant scientific field preferred

Experience

  • 2+ years of marketing experience in genomics and molecular diagnostics, with a focus on NGS instruments

  • Prior sales or technical experience with next-generation sequencing technologies and/or molecular diagnostics is a plus

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Self-starter and collaborative within project teams, and successful track record working in matrix environments.

  • Outstanding skill leading complex marketing projects involving multiple team members with a strong attention to detail.

  • Adept at building and managing relationships with customers and key opinion leaders.

  • Strong creative intuition on design and messaging that resonates with the target audience and an ability to learn from previous campaigns to improve on performance.

  • Ability to lead project scope, budget, and schedule to achieve timely results.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Experienced with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other project management and efficiency tools.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $83,300.00–$115,000.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
