Southern Illinois Healthcare PHYSICIAN PRACTICE SPECIALIST in Carbondale, Illinois

Responsible for assisting the Regional Practice Director in the coordination of safe, efficient and cost-effective management of multiple ambulatory clinics, physicians and nursing staff with data entry into EPIC, provide clerical and other support to nursing staff, P.A., and physicians.

Role Specific Responsibilities:

  • Assist Regional Practice Director in the coordination of well-organized clinic management.

  • Work collaboratively with Regional Practice Director to ensure accurate reporting and evaluation of practice

  • Participate in the daily assessment of operational needs, including areas of staffing, provider scheduling, and patient appointments.

  • Participate in daily status rounding to address operational needs and escalate timely concerns to the appropriate leader.

  • Serve as a resource to employees for patient care questions by having thorough knowledge of Epic workflows, patient policies, and options available for patient care.

  • Coordinate problem-solving assistance with the appropriate practice or team to strategically improve patient care.

  • Assist Practice Managers in the coordination of office staffing schedules and communication of shared staffing adjustment opportunities.

  • Support Practice Managers with the accurate and timely submission of departmental payroll activities.

  • Conduct process observation of standard operating procedures in coordination with director and practice managers.

  • Assist in the responsibility of upkeep of clinic work queues in Epic

  • Assist with inventory control and ordering of both clinical and non-clinical supplies.

  • Assist Regional Director to coordinate and accurately record provider on-call schedules

  • Serve as a leader resource to employees during hourly or daily absences of practice manager.


  • Associate Degree in business, or healthcare related field

Experience and Skills

  • Technical: 2 years of experience in scheduling, appointment setting, EMR process flow and work queues management.
