  1. Overview of Position

Responsible for the development and planning of the recreational component; responsible for day-to-day assistance and supervision related to educational component; works in partnership with clinical staff and other Residential Technicians to assure that planned activities are implemented within the accepted theory and practice of the residential community model of treatment.  Provides case management services based on approval by Director.

 

Ensures the safety, security, and comfort of all clients, both outpatient and residential, and visitors by monitoring and supervising client and visitor behavior at all times.

  1. Adhere to agency policies and procedures.

     

  2. Report to the supervisor on an ongoing basis.

     

  3. Attend department and staff meetings and other agency functions as required.

     

  4. Plans for recreational activities

     

  5. Schedules non-competitive activities throughout day and evening.

     

  6. Works with agency recreation centers to obtain memberships and league participation.

     

  • Works co-operatively with other staff in the implementation of planned activities.

     

  1. Makes sure that activities are planned and implemented that reflect the diversity of needs and interests of the residents.

     

  2. Assists with educational activities.

     

  3. Works closely with supervisor to determine individual educational/vocational needs.

     

  4. Provides individual tutoring to assist residents with special needs.

     

  • Monitors residents who are attending off-grounds educational/vocational settings.

  2. Demonstrates competency in orienting to the facility's treatment philosophy and programs, including rules and client rights, as measured by supervisory observation and written test results.

     

  3. Demonstrates competency in education of residents about addiction and 12 Step Programs as measured by observation and supervision.

     

  • Demonstrates competency in teaching residents' activities of daily living as measured by supervisory observation and clinical charts.

     

  1. Works within the residential treatment team to enhance residents' development of life skills, if needed, as evidenced by supervisory observations and/or documentation.

  3. Demonstrates competency in redirection of residents, as evidenced by shift reports, logbook, and supervisory observation.

     

  4. Orients new residents in necessary areas such as the agency's treatment philosophy, hours of operation, service array, resident rights/responsibilities, grievance procedure, confidentiality regulations, rules and regulations as evidenced by supervisory observations and/or documentation.
