Aultman Health Foundation AULTWORKS - STAFF NURSE in CANTON, Ohio

The primary responsibilities of the On-Site Occupational Health Nurse is to deliver clinical and educational/wellness/onsite programs offered through AultWorksOccupational Medicine on-site at companies. The On Site Occupational Health Nurse is an active member of the team assuring appropriate medical delivery and assisting in coordinating an individual client’s health care services from the onset of injury or illness to a safe return to work or an optimal alternative.

**Primary Duties**
  1. Works in conjunction with the AultWorksExecutive Medical Director and Program Director to assist in

coordination and delivery of occupational medicine services.

  1. Maintains AultWorksand Aultman Health Foundation standards of confidentiality.

  2. Assures compliance with Aultman Health Foundation/Hospital/AultWorks clinical policies and procedures.

  3. Attends appropriate seminars and conferences to meet the occupational nursing needs of AultWorks.

  4. Identifies and maintains communication among all stakeholders and team members.

  5. Co-manages in coordinating training, competency and ongoing education/training of the clinical staff to assure the staff is current, proficient and up to date in all aspects of their role.

  6. Assists in the coordination of ancillary clinical services; to include but not limited to urine drug

screens, breath alcohol testing according to Federal Regulations; immunizations, annual medical screening and

testing, safety education training and onsite nursing services.

  1. Provides direct care as needed under the direction of the occupational medicine physicians and utilizing

established protocols.

  1. Provides occupational health surveillance testing including pulmonary function testing, audiometric testing,

vision screening and other testing as appropriate.

  1. Serves as the occupational medicine program Urine Drug Screen (UDS) collector trainer as established in the

49 CFR Part 40 procedures that apply to the federally mandated transportation testing.

  1. Collaborates with the Program Manager and Account Executive in designing and implementing onsite

occupational nursing services.

  1. Develops and conducts educational programs to enhance and promote the goals of the occupational medicine


  1. Maintains awareness of technological and professional changes associated with occupational and environmental

health and safety.

  1. Responsible for program compliance in all regulated areas, working in conjunction with the Medical Director,

Program Manager and clinical staff.


  1. Three or more years experience in occupational health clinical nursing, preferred.

  2. Strong organization and communication abilities.

  3. Experience in coordinating services working with multiple systems and priorities.

  4. Current license to practice as an RN in the state of Ohio.

  5. Team builder.

  6. Prior experience in occupational health nursing

  7. Ability to make independent clinical judgments, solve problems and prioritize workload.

  8. Knowledge of occupational and environmental health services, clinic management, governmental regulations,

team process, quality improvement, teaching skills, and computer processes.

  1. Additional training/experience as a UDS collection instructor, BAT technician, pulmonary function tester,

audio logy hearing tester, BLS/First Aid Instructor is preferred.

  1. Certification in Occupational Health Nursing preferred.

    Working Conditions

  2. Normally works eight hours per day on day shift. Occasional overtime as needed to meet deadlines.

  3. Lunch periods and breaks are flexible to meet the needs of the position and department.

  4. Works in well-lighted/ventilated office.

  5. Subject to frequent interruptions and changes in priority of duties throughout the day.

  6. Expected to adhere to hospital policies and procedures.

  7. Expected to fulfill position description requirements.

  8. Hazard Exposure Category: 3.

Additional information concerning physical requirements for the position: The majority of the time is spent working with data entry and system coordination.

Any area that has been evaluated at the Developing or Inconsistent level needs to have

comments regarding what steps the employee will take to improve performance in that

area. This rating for any standard on the appraisal may result in withholding of a pay

increase at the manager’s discretion until improvement is shown at the time of re-

evaluation. Failure to improve a “0” within a 90-day period will result in disciplinary
