Reports to:Collaborating physician

Rate of Pay:$114,500 - $143,100 annually for full-time status; to be prorated for part-time or per diem status based on scheduled hours

Work Schedule: Flexible within Monday - Friday daytime Health Center hours; no evenings, weekends, major holidays, or on-call; full-time, part-time, or per diem schedules are available

Position Summary:Provides Psychiatric Services to individuals referred to the Health Center.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conducts examinations with recommendations for treatment and follow-up care to patients.

  • Conducts follow-up examinations with recommendations for any changes in the Care Plan.

  • Prescribes medications as condition indicates.

  • Make appropriate referrals when necessary.

  • Discusses treatment plan with individual, parents, relatives/advocate or guardian.

  • Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary clinic team to ensure that the medical needs of patients are met.

  • Maintains confidential medical records

  • Assures referral and/or consultation with collaboration physician

  • Assures compliance with all regulations of health and clinical services.

  • Assures standards of medical care.

  • Assist nursing staff in providing emergency first aid, crisis intervention, and infection control procedures.

  • Assure review of medical care provided and recommended by collaboration physician.

  • Perform any other duties agreed upon with the Medical Director.

Requirements

  • Current, registered NYS Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner license

  • Current Board certification

  • Current DEA certification

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs, lift and support patients with and without help, and push and pull carts.

  • Physical strength to subdue a patient to prevent patient or personal injury.

  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods.

  • Regular exposure to infectious diseases, blood and airborne pathogens, needle sticks, hygiene issues, and other odors.

  • Ability to read digital readouts, recognize colors, and operate necessary medical equipment.

  • Ability to wear necessary hospital masks, gowns, gloves, and closed-toed shoes.
