Position Title Assistant Coach for Track & Field

FLSA Exempt

Primary Responsibilities

St. Lawrence University invites applications for an Assistant Coach for Track & Field. This is a full-time, 10-month, position. Under the direct supervision of the head coach, this person will be primarily responsible for instructing athletes and the following main responsibilities:

  • Recruitment of highly qualified student-athletes through identification, scouting, direct and indirect communication both on and off campus

  • Facilitate student-athlete development both during and outside of the formal practice/competition setting; ensuring academic success, good citizenship, sportsmanship, and promotion of positive values consistent with the mission of St. Lawrence University

  • Assist with practice planning and event coaching

  • Implement strength and conditioning programming along with coordination of pre-season practices.

  • Assist with the planning and preparations for home and away competitions as well as well as any of the programs additional special events

  • Assist with program organization; budget, team travel and alumni connections

  • Other duties as assigned by the head coaches and/or director of athletics

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Demonstrated ability to recruit diverse, quality student-athletes

  • Ability to effectively communicate with faculty/staff, University community members and alumni

  • Knowledge of all NCAA and Liberty League rules & regulations pertaining to track and field

  • Must have a philosophy compatible with highly selective academic standards within a Liberal Arts University that supports diversity and inclusivity

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet the University’s requirement to operate a University vehicle.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Coaching experience in the jumps, sprints, and/or throws at the college level preferred

    Salary $48,716 (NYS minimum requirement)
