Power Tester

PeopleReady of  Canonsburg, PA is now hiring Power Tester! As a Power Tester, you will do a variety of work in different industries. Perform testing on Power Transformers and transformer components on voltages and currents. Testing completed by using test equipment by working safely and developing data for test sheets. Required to perform test calculations, analyze test data and test failures. May calibrate and repair test equipment.This position requires ability to work at heights and under extreme conditions. The employee should not have any underlying conditions which would preclude him/her from working as a Tester. Employee should not have underlying conditions such as Epilepsy or Diabetes or any medical condition which would interfere or impact the duties of the job. Employee works in tight quarters and at various heights and should not be claustrophobic or afraid of heights.

Pay Rate:

The pay rate for this job is $22.20 / Hour

What you'll be doing as a Power Tester:

  • Ost work is performed indoors, however, occasionally testers are required to access rooftop capacitor banks which are outdoors and require maintenance or make connections.

  • Required to assist new testers as needed.

  • Minor repair to test equipment and customer interaction required.

  • Quality Control check during final stages.

  • Keep work area safe, neat and clean. 

Available shifts:

Shift timings - 1st shift (Day) and Weekends

Job requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Must have additional schooling in electrical applications.

  • Must be able to perform work at heights occasionally.

  • Must be able to pass physical work requirements.

  • Must be willing to work flexible hours and occasional overtime when warranted.

  • Ability to train and receive certification or licensure as needed.

  • Ability to withstand various temperatures in warehouse during summer or winter months.

  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs, with assistance.

  • Ability to lift 50-60 lbs alone.

  • Ability to pass required math and tester exam.

  • Ability to work safely and adhere to all OSHA guidelines.

  • Good math skills are required

  • Ability to learn to operate all testing equipment safely with minimal supervision.

  • Good Attendance history and reliable to show for work on time.

  • Required to stand throughout an 8-hour shift  

  • Read and understand spec sheets or work orders.

  • Understand Daily Schedule to meet production demand.

  • Cross train and adhere to product development standards.

  • Operate machinery to test coils as needed

  • Inspect coils during testing to ensure conformances.

  • Adhere to all housekeeping and safety standards, including the required use of personal equipment (PPE).

  • Competency using electric calculators and entering data in the system.

  • Competency using computers and logging data

  • Documentation and calculation involved with the wire testing.

  • Must be able to calculate test results to determine if product acceptance or rejectio

  • Knowledge of appropriate industry standards such as IEEE and IEC.

  • Attention to details when creating reports.

  • Worker is subject to an environment not controlled for heat or cold.

  • Workers must be able to wear PPE-safety toe safety shoes and safety glasses.

  • This position requires a medium level of physical demand capability.

  • Workers frequently stand on concrete flooring and for most of shift.

  • Workers should not be fearful of heights or be claustrophobic

  • Background check and drug screen required
