Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior Welding Process Engineer (1st Shift) with a focus in Welding to join our Manufacturing team in Canoga Park, CA.

At this facility, we design & manufacture rocket engines and unique power systems that support space exploration & the defense of our nation such as NASA’s SLS, Lockheed Martin’s THAAD, Sierra Nevada’s Dream Chaser, and the Mars Perseverance Rover.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee and troubleshoot critical weldments ensuring best practices for weld fit-up, cleanliness requirements and weld parameters are followed.

  • Develop weld parameters and document best practices to support production.

  • Perform root cause analysis and disposition discrepant hardware.

  • Perform statistical process analysis of welding processes.

  • Define weld machine/specification requirements.

  • Perform root cause analysis and disposition discrepant hardware.

  • Accurately report problems, solutions, and results, in concise written and oral communications. Communicate effectively between team members and customer counterparts.

    Qualifications:

    Requires a Bachelor's degree in Weld Engineering, Mechanical Engineer, Industrial Technology and five (5) years of experience in aerospace working with nickel, stainless, ferrous and aluminum alloys, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Previous experience developing weld parameters for E.B welding, manual, In-Place-Tube or Automatic G.T.A. welding

  • Experience working with Torch Weld Jigs (TWJ), setting weldments up for exact shrinkages to fit TWJ post weld.

  • Experience performing root cause analysis.

  • Experience following and applying weld specifications

  • Process capability and statistical analysis experience.

  • Familiarity with E.B. Weld concepts

  • Familiarity working with electronic planning, drawings, and pertinent documents such as weld parameters or weld schedules.

  • Strong analytical and communication skills (written and oral) are required, along with the ability to lead teams and work in a collaborative team environment.

  • Experience using appropriate PPE.

  • Experience with the following are a plus:

  • Working with D17.1 or Journeyman Weld certifications.

  • Writing weld machine specifications.

  • Using electronic planning and drawings.

  • Moving large structures or hardware.

    In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $92,500 - $171,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
